Lecture on stone walls of New England April 1
Mar 2, 2016
Author and geologist Robert Thorson will present an overview of New England’s historic stone walls, explaining why they are the signature landforms of the region on Friday, April 1 from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Marion Natural History Museum. Cost is $10 for members and $12 for nonmembers. The museum is located at 8 Spring St.
What is the oldest documented stone wall in New England? When were most stone walls built, and by whom? Why is New England so rich in historic stone walls, whereas other regions usually lack them? These questions and more will be answered by Thorson.
This program is supported in part by a grant from the Marion Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
