Elderly tax relief applications available

Mar 9, 2017

Applications for Mattapoisett’s Elderly and Disabled Tax Relief Fund are currently available.

The fund was established under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 60 in order to help elderly and disabled residents to remain in their homes. Money is raised through donations, and all residents receive the donation form enclosed with their property tax bills.

In order to qualify, applicant’s gross income cannot exceed $20,000 if single and $40,000 if married. Applicant’s total estate, excluding their home, cannot be more than $35,000 if single and $45,000 if married.

Applications are available both online at mattapoisett.net under the Council on Aging tab and at the Council on Aging office, located in Center School.

Completed applications and/or donations should be mailed to the Treasurer’s Office, P.O. Box 433, Mattapoisett, MA 02739. Applications for help must be received by April 1.
