Schools cancelled, roads blocked in the tri-town

Officials are reporting widespread damage across Marion, Rochester and Mattapoisett following heavy winds Sunday night into Monday morning. Drivers are advised to use caution.

Eversource's website is reporting that about half of all power outages in Rochester and Marion, as well as a third of power outages in Mattapoisett, have been repaired. As of 8:30 a.m., 1,622 residents of Rochester were without power, according to Eversource. 1,684 residents of Marion and 1,292 residents in Mattapoisett are in the same situation.

All schools in the Old Rochester Regional School District are closed, as is Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School.

Tri-town maintenance departments are working to clear debris scattered across roads. Trees have been reported as downed in all three towns. Power lines in Rochester have also been downed.

In Mattapoisett, the area of North Street from Crystal Spring to the Rochester border, according to the Mattapoisett Fire Department. Drivers are being told to stay away from the area.

Further road blocks are likely, according to officials.
