Two Tabor students from Marion are among ten students from the Class of 2018 signed to NCAA Division I sports teams at their future colleges.

Mari Daly and Hannah Strom, both crew team members, will continue their crew careers at the University of Texas at Austin and the College of the Holy Cross respectively.

To celebrate their success, many of the student athletes took part in a ceremony on Wednesday, November 8, to officially sign their letters of intent with proud friends and families on hand to cheer them on.

“This group of ten dedicated student-athletes represent the commitment that many of our athletes have to their passions, a commitment to excellence.” said Associate Director of Athletics Kelly Walker. “It speaks highly of our coaches and the depth of our programs, and to the athletes at Tabor who have put in an incredible effort to put themselves in a good position to continue playing at the next level.”

Other students signed to Division I teams include three seniors from the girls’ varsity hockey team, Kelly Browne, Jillian Fey, and Olivia Finocchiaro, who will continue to be teammates at Boston College. Senior Erin Hill will head to Yale University and continue playing basketball, while her teammate Emma Squires will set off to play basketball at the University of Richmond. Three boys from the boys’ varsity lacrosse team will head off in the fall to play at the next level as well: Patrick Daly to Villanova, Matt Shaffer to the University of Vermont, and Lance Pfeninger-Racine to St. Anselm’s.

“We’re so fortunate to have such wonderful kids, and it’s a bonus that they’re great athletes,” said Athletic Director Conan Leary.
