Choose a cause, make a difference at volunteer expo Dec. 29

Nov 29, 2017

Choose a cause and make a difference this winter.

Mattapoisett resident and current Miss Massachusetts Jillian Zucco is hosting a "Make a Difference Expo," which will be held on Friday, December 29, from 1-6 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Route 6 in Mattapoisett. The expo is meant to connect programs and potential volunteers.

Zucco, who organized the event, is now accepting applications from interested organizations, who would like to get their messages out to volunteers.

Zucco volunteers all-year round, working with various groups and organizations that operate on a shoe-string budget and rely on volunteers to carry out their mission.

"As this year comes to an end and a new one begins, I want to remind people of the value of making a difference," she explained. "Some people think about volunteering but they don't know how to go about it. This is a great way for individuals interested in volunteering to learn about the opportunities in our community and how they can get involved."

In addition to the exhibits, Boston Children's Hospital will have its blood donor bus set up outside to help restock their critically low blood supply. The expo will also feature live entertainment and refreshments.
