Mattapoisett Recreation programs open for registration

Mattapoisett Recreation Winter Program Registration is now open.

KID FIT for children in kindergarten through third grade will be on Tuesdays from 3-4 p.m. Sessions start January 30 and run through March 8 in the Center School Gymnasium. Classes are designed to increase physical fitness and expend some energy while having fun. Different games and sports will be played each week. A six-week session costs $80. Registration deadline is January 23.

GYMNASTICS & TUMBLING for ages 5 and over will be on Fridays from 3:15-4:15 and 4:15-5:15. The program runs from January 5-March 9 at the Old Hammondtown School gymnasium. Our gymnastics and/or tumbling classes are perfect for beginner gymnasts, as well as students with previous gymnastics experience. Qualified instructors will work individually with each gymnast on all four gymnastic events: floor tumbling, balance beam, bars and vaulting. Tumbling classes are designed for any gymnast or cheerleader interested in working solely on their floor/tumbling skills. An eight-week session cost is $145. Open registration runs through January 1.

MARTIAL ARTS is Mondays from 3-4 p.m. and will run from January 22-April 23 at the Center School gymnasium. The Pound Martial Arts Center will help teach a 12-week course. Learn amazing self-defense moves, discipline and leadership skills while finding an outlet for energy. The course will promote self-confidence and self-discipline. Two sessions will be run at the same time. Session one is for kindergarteners and session two is for ages 6-9. Each participant will be given a uniform and a belt. The 12-week session cost is $155. Registration deadline is 1/17.

FENCING is on Mondays beginning February 5 and running through March 19. Ages 7-11 are from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and ages 10-14 are from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Program runs February 5-March 19 at the Center School gymnasium. Blackstone Valley Fencing Academy will teach the basic techniques and language of fencing. Their goal is to promote self-confidence and self-reliance as a fencer and an individual. All equipment is provided. This six-week session costs $125 and the registration deadline is January 29.

CENTER STAGE KIDS is for kids ages 5-12. The program is on Wednesdays from 3-4 p.m. and runs from January 10-March 21 in the Center School gymnasium. Children will learn various aspects of the performing arts from Tracy Gendreau Fiore and will participate in a theatrical production on the last day of the eight-week session. The program costs $105 and the registration deadline is January 4.

CRAFTING for kids in grades kindergarten through third grade is on Thursdays from 2:45-4 p.m. and runs from January 11-March 15 in the Center School cafeteria. Each week there will be a different theme and materials provided. Maria Lynch will be running this eight-week session. The cost is $85 and the registration deadline is January 4. Space is limited.
