Rochester man arrested for Acushnet robbery

A Rochester man was arrested on Friday, December 22, in connection with an armed robbery in Acushnet.

According to a press release from the Acushnet Police Department, a suspect—later identified as Sean Daniel, 23, of Rochester—entered Jason's Variety on Main Street in Acushnet on December 14. He was masked and armed with a gun.

Daniel pointed the gun at the clerk and demanded money from the cash register. The clerk handed Daniel the money. He then proceeded to flee.

No injuries were reported in the robbery.

Daniel was arrested at his home at 6 Briarwood Lane in Rochester on December 22, after Acushnet Police used search warrants to search the home. Among the items recovered in the search, Acushnet Police said, was a realistic-looking BB gun.

Daniel is being charged with conducting an armed robbery while masked.

Acushnet Police Detective Sergeant Christopher Richmond and Detective Jeremy Fontes were assisted in the investigation by members of the Acushnet Police Department Uniform Division, the Bristol County Sheriff’s Office South Coast Anti Crime Team, the Bristol County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation as well as the Taunton and Rochester Police Departments.
