Selectman Steve Gonsalves has resigned from the Marion Board of Selectmen, according to an agenda for a special board meeting.

Selectmen Norm Hills and Chair Jody Dickerson will meet at 2 p.m. on Monday to discuss the resignation, as well as reassign representation to subcommittees.

The resignation comes a few weeks after a contentious meeting in which Gonsalves accused Town Administrator Paul Dawson, Hills and Dickerson of leaving him out of the loop regarding the process of hiring an interim Department of Public Works Superintendent.

Additionally, Gonsalves was not present at the Feb. 20 meeting, with Dickerson noting Gonsalves had called around 5 p.m. to say he would not be there.
