Girls' hockey team advances in state championship

Mar 1, 2018

The Bourne, Mashpee, Wareham, ORR (BMWORR) girls' ice hockey team emerged victorious in the preliminary round of their division championship.

The team defeated the girls' ice hockey team from Boston Latin High School, 2-1, on February 28 at Gallo Arena in Bourne.

BMWORR player Carly Lacasse scored the team's first goal in the third period, while Rochester resident Elsie Buckley followed up with a second goal, also in the third period.

Goalie Megan Nolan was "outstanding," according to Head Coach Kristyn Alexander, who added that she'd made 42 saves in the net.

Now, the BMWORR team will advance to the first round of the division championship, where it will face off against Austin Prep at Stoneham on March 3. The game begins at 7 p.m. The winner of that game will face off against the winner of the Andover vs. Melrose game in the quarterfinals.
