Textile conservator to speak at Mattapoisett Library

Mar 1, 2018

Textile conservator Kathryn Tarleton will be at the Mattapoisett Library to explain textile conservation (and give some handy tips) on Sunday, March 18.

Tarleton, the owner of textile conservation company ConText, Inc., will explain what textile conservators do and share the "behind-the-scenes" work needed in order to preserve historic objects and prepare them for exhibition. The free lecture will run from 2– 3 p.m.

Attendees may bring in one textile object and, based on time available, Tarleton will identify a sampling of objects, and provide tips about how to best care for textiles and family heirlooms.

Those interested are asked to register for the event (although walk-ins are welcome, registrations are appreciated) by calling 508-758-4171 or emailing rsmith@sailsinc.org. When calling, provide the number of people attending and contact information.
