Marion Concert Band performance to feature Broadway stage tunes

Marion Concert Band continues its Friday evening concert series on Aug. 10, with a program of music from the Broadway stage. All concerts begin at 7 p.m.

The band program, which includes highlights from some of Broadway's most memorable shows, from "Camelot" to "Jesus Christ Superstar."

The featured soloist is Maxx Wolski, a xylophonist, who will be showcased in the band's performance of  "Flight of the Bumble Bee." Wolski recently finished his first year at Berklee College of Music studying vibes and percussion. He was the vibraphonist for the Massachusetts All-State Jazz Ensemble for three years, and was selected as the vibraphonist for the 2017 All-Eastern Jazz Ensemble, ranking him as the top high school jazz vibraphonist in the 14 east coast states that year.

The concert, under the direction of Tobias Monte, will held at the Robert O. Broomhead Bandstand on Island Wharf, located off Front Street.  All concerts are free and open to the public.
