Registration open for Mattapoisett Recreation Spring Programs

Mattapoisett Recreation Spring Program registration is now open.  

Kid Fit is open to children from Kindergarten to grade 3 on Tuesdays from 3 to 4 p.m. starting  March 19 through May 14 at the Center School gym. Join Mr. C. for classes that increase physical fitness and expend some energy, while having fun. Different games and sports will be played each week. 8 week session. Cost is $105 and Registration deadline is March 12. This class fills quickly- sign up today.

Sport Fit is open to children in grades 4 to 6 on Thursdays from 3 to 4 p.m. starting  March 28 through  May 23 at Old Hammondtown School gym. This is a new program. Classes are designed with drills and games based on sports conditioning. The activities will increase speed, agility and strength. 8 week session. The cost for the session is $105  and Registration deadline is March 21.

Mattapoisett Recreation’s Running Club is open to children in grades 4 to 6 on Tuesdays from 3 to 4 p.m. starting  on March 26 through  May 14 at Old Hammondtown School gym. The goal is to get kids off the couch and into running shoes and to help them develop a lifetime love for running and a healthy lifestyle. Runners of all abilities will leave the program with a greater belief in themselves. Join Mrs. Hughes for this 7 week program.The cost is $55 and the registration deadline is March 18.

Gymnastics & Tumbling is for children Ages 5 and up on Fridays from 3:15 to 4:15 and from 4:15 to 5:15. The class will start on March 15 and run through May 17 at Old Hammondtown School gymnasium. Gymnastics and/or Tumbling classes are perfect for beginner gymnasts as well as students with previous gymnastics experience. Qualified instructors will work individually with each gymnast on all 4 gymnastic events: floor tumbling, balance beam, bars and vaulting.

Tumbling classes are designed for any gymnast or cheerleader interested in working solely on their floor and tumbling skills. The class will have an 8 week session and cost $155. The  registration deadline is March 8.

Fencing will be held on Mondays. Children ages 7 to 11 will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and ages 10 to 14 are from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Classes will start on March 25 and last through May 20 in the Center School Gymnasium.

Blackstone Valley Fencing Academy will teach students the basic techniques and language of fencing. Their goal is to promote self-confidence and self-reliance as a fencer and an individual.  All equipment is provided. The cost for this 8 week session is $165 and the registration deadline is March 18.

In the Mattapoisett Recreation’s robotics programs students will learn to design, build and code robots in this 6-weeks. Children will experiment and problem-solve while working on team-building skills. All LEGO materials are provided. The cost for the course $85 and the registration deadline is March 4.

The Center School robotics program is open to grades 2 and 3 on Thursdays from  2:45 to 4 p.m. and starts on March 14. It will run through May 2 in the Center School Computer Lab. The Old Hammondtown Program is open to grades 4 to 6 on Wednesdays from 2:45 to 4: pm starting on March 13 and lasting through through April 24 in the Old Hammondtown Computer Lab. 

The Mattapoisett Recreation Girls Golf clinic will be held at the Bay Club.  Join the Bay Club’s PGA Pro for a complimentary indoor golf clinic. Clinics will focus on the fundamentals of golf, and participants will receive instruction and try the indoor golf simulator.
