Everett C. Gallego, 97
Everett C. Gallego, 97, of Marion, died November 20, 2011 at the Cape Heritage Nursing Home, Sandwich. He was the widower of the late Edna May (Bentley) Gallego and the son of the late Jacintho C. and Maria (Vieira) Gallego.
He was born in New Bedford, raised in Dartmouth and lived in Marion for many years. Mr. Gallego was a proud WWII Army Air Corps Veteran.
Mr. Gallego was a talented craftsman and artist. He taught at the Swain School of Design and several area high schools. He was also a talented dog trainer and showed dogs at Westminster Kennel Club Dog Shows.
His family is eternally grateful to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cape Cod and Cape Heritage and C.C. Senior Residence for the compassionate care extended to Everett and his family.
Survivors include his daughter, Stephanie Smith and her husband Stephen of East Sandwich; 4 brothers, Jesse, Stanley, Richard and Matthew Galligo; 5 sisters, Lillian Reed, Helen Openshaw, Alice Naja, Marion Silvia and Madeline Henderson; 2 granddaughters, Pamela Fournier and her husband David of West Yarmouth and Jennifer Smith and her husband Robert Rennie of Wilton, NH; 3 great grandchildren, Shawna and Jay Smith and Brodie Kendrick; one great great granddaughter, Amora Smith.
His graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
