Boy Scouts teach campfires to cubs, recruits
Oct 4, 2020
MATTAPOISETT — At an event on Oct. 3, Boy Scouts showed Cub Scouts and potential recruits how to safely start their own fires for Camp Fire Day.
Cub Scouts and recruits toured through four demonstrations on campfire lighting and safety.
First, cubs and recruits made take-home fire starting kits, then they learned how to make kindling, then they learned how to safely chop wood. Finally, they learned how to start fires safely, and with environmental consciousness.
The tour was capped with a sea shanty sung by the Boy Scouts and led by Paul McLaughlin.
