Things to do: Walk dogs in Mattapoisett, party in Marion

Thursday, Aug. 26
See “Cedar Beach”
There’s still time to catch the Marion Art Center’s “Cedar Beach” in Bicentennial Park. Shows are scheduled through Aug. 29. Tickets can be purchased at marionartcenter.org.

Friday, Aug. 27
Join the walking club
At 10 a.m., the Sippican Lands Trust will continue its walking club series with a walk around its Radio Tower Property with Naturalist and Board Member Brian Freyermouth.

See the Marion Concert Band finale
On Friday, Aug. 27, the Marion Concert Band will close its 2021 season with a concert in the style of the Boston Pops Orchestra.

The concert, under the direction of Tobias Monte, will begin at 7 p.m. at the Robert Broomhead Bandstand, Island Wharf off Front Street in Marion.

The concert is free and open to the public.

Saturday, Aug. 28
Take a walk
Mattapoisett's fifth annual Dog Walk-A-Thon will be from 8 a.m. to noon.

Sign up is at the Center School parking lot.

There will be a half mile and full mile loop around the village. Participants will receive a free t-shirt, though a $20 donation is requested.

All Proceeds from the event will go toward building a Dog Park.

Help build a bridge
At 9 a.m., the Sippican Lands Trust will be repairing a bridge at its White Eagle Property and is looking for volunteers to help. The lands trust has already built all three bridges but still needs to add ramps and other safety features to them.

Party in Marion
The Marion Town Party will be held on the lawn at Silvershell Beach on Front Street beginning at 4 p.m. A rain date is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 29.

There will be food and beverages for sale, music by DJ Gary, inflatable games for the kids, cornhole and when night falls, the town will have fire pits to gather around.

Tuesday, Aug. 31
Talk social issues at the Mattapoisett Museum
at 6 p.m. the Mattapoisett Museum and The LGBTQ+ Network South Coast will be hosting a conversation about the evolution and growth of the South Coast LGBTQ+ community.

Join the Q&A as the museum provides an overview of the programs available for LGBTQ+ individuals, their friends, families, and allies in the region.
