MATTAPOISETT — Shipyard Park had a four-legged visitor on Sunday, July 9.

Nine-year-old Tonto the Horse and owner Scott Lorraine made a pit stop for ice cream at the concession stand at Shipyard Park in their custom-painted black school bus after a day spent enjoying the South Coast.

“This is all I do … little horse adventures,” said Lorraine, a Fairhaven native who now lives in Wareham with his wife Melody.

Lorraine said he started horsin’ around in 2011. He described himself as “a kid at heart” who hangs out with his horses “just to have fun.”

Sometimes, the horses pull him around in a cart. In return, he drives them up to Maine and throughout Plymouth County.

Lorraine also has two other horses he regularly brings on adventures, 14-year-old Cricket and Bug, 9.

As quickly as they arrived, Lorraine and Tonto were off — most likely on another horse adventure.
