The end of the road: Mattapoisett 7-Eleven closes permanently
MATTAPOISETT — All good things must come to an end: the Mattapoisett 7-Eleven located at 51 County Street is now closed indefinitely.
Among the cleared shelves and empty aisles, signs are now posted around the entrance and interior stating that “7-Eleven is no longer in this building. Only Dunkin’ Donuts!”
Mattapoisett 7-Eleven employees were unable to comment on the situation. Additionally, 7-Eleven Corporate has not responded to multiple inquiries for further information about the closure.
The 7-Eleven was attached to a Dunkin’ location where the two stores shared a common space. Dunkin’ employees confirmed that the 7-Eleven is now closed and there are currently no plans of reopening or renovation.
The workers at Dunkin’ also emphasized that their store will remain open despite 7-Eleven’s closure.
With the 7-Eleven now permanently shuttered, the nearest grocery store is nearly four miles away in Fairhaven, leaving some Mattapoisett residents concerned with the lack of easy access to kitchen basics like bread and milk.
