Two officers appointed to Rochester Police Department
ROCHESTER — The Rochester Police Department received an upgrade in staffing on Monday, June 17 as two officers were appointed to new roles.
Scott Smith was appointed to a full-time position and Rick Bartley was appointed to a part-time role.
Interim Chief Donald Kemmett described the additions as “huge” due to many officers working overtime in recent weeks.
Smith had been working part-time for the police department for the past 8 years, according to Kemmett.
“He’s done a lot of hours over the years,” said Kemmett. “He has done invaluable work for us…selfless dedication right here.”
The Rochester Select Board unanimously approved both appointments.
“They are both really good guys,” said Kemmett. “I couldn’t say a nicer thing about either of them.”
