Buoys get a redesign at Shipyard Park
MATTAPOISETT — On the fourth night of Harbor Days my true love gave to me — a nautical hand-painted buoy.
Many couples, friends and families gathered at Shipyard Park on the evening of Thursday, July 18 and left in need of a washcloth and soap.
After children had their fun on Sunday, adults took their turn with “Adult Paint Night” hosted by the Mattapoisett Lions Club and Painting at Splash.
Charles Demaris has been coming to the event for the last four years.
“It’s nice, relaxing and there’s a great view,” he said.
Although guests had the freedom to design their buoy however they pleased, most decorated them with lobsters and certain numbers which resembled area codes, coordinates and home addresses.
“It’s so fun,” said Jillian Yates, one of the hosts and helpers of the event. “You meet so many cool people and so many creative minds.”
Yates said she liked the event because it gave attendees a great amount of freedom and creativity of expression.
Harbor Days will continue on Friday night with the Tri-Town famous strawberry shortcakes before the day-long affairs of Saturday and Sunday.
