Thomas J. Carney, 83

Thomas J. Carney, age 83 of Brockton Mass passed away peacefully on Aug. 2, 2024 . He was born in Boston to the late Thomas and Catherine (Collins) Carney.

Thomas was survived by is wife  Cheryl (Segal) Carney, Children Catherine (Suzy) Wood and  husband Carlston lll of Wareham, Linda Holt and her husband Norman of Marion, Donna Richard and her husband Donald of Wareham, Thomas Carney and his wife Christina of Milton, New Hampshire, Step children Kimberly Chapman and her husband Donald of Weymouth, Richard White and his fiancé's  Rowena Shlosman of Aiken County, South Carolina.

He was the grandfather of Jessica Taber, Ashley Taber, Mark Noble Jr., Leah Ledger, Autumn Wood, Cameron Carney, Abigail Wood, Logan Carney, Donald Chapman, Tara Chapman, Richard White Jr., and Christina Miller.   

Thomas was the great grandfather of Brandon Noble, Harley Taber, Landyn Shuttleworth, Alana Noble, Emersen Noble, Blake Ledger, Chloe White, Cecilia White, Madelyn White, Nate White, Theo White and Emmalynne Chapman.

He was also survived by several nieces and nephews, a friend Penny Ellis of Wareham and his beloved cat Tabitha.

He was a 1958 graduate of Boston Technical High School. He previously lived in Dorchester and Wareham. He worked at Houghton Mifflin company in Cambridge, He also worked at Ferreira & Sons of Stoughton and retired at Stop & Shop after 29 years.

He was a proud member of the Teamsters, past Stewart and Past Vice President of the Teamsters Local 829. He enjoyed playing in the men’s softball leagues, and bowling leagues. Thomas was a avid sports fan of all the Boston's teams, especially the Red Sox and New England Patriots. He enjoyed dining out, traveling on vacation, and going to the movies.

Thomas loved nothing more than spending time with his family. He had fond memories of relaxing at the beach, swimming in their pool and grilling for cookouts. Many years of fun and games at Lincoln Park and going to the drive in.

He will be in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

In honoring Thomas’s life, Visiting hours will be held at The Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123), Brockton, Ma. On Monday Aug. 12, from 4-7p.m. The Funeral procession Tuesday Aug. 13, at 9:30a.m. For funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10:30 a.m.
