It’s a sign: Parking rules to be clarified around bike path intersection
MATTAPOISETT — A pair of signs will soon bring added clarity to the parking situation surrounding an intersection of the Mattapoisett Rail Trail.
The Mattapoisett Select Board approved Tuesday, Aug. 13 the installation of two “No Parking Between Signs” markers along a stretch of Mattapoisett Neck Road that Town Administrator Michael Lorenco said had “caused some confusion with people parking there.”
The signs will be placed at Timberledge Lane and between Locust Street and the bike path.
“With people parking there, it presents a danger to people crossing the road,” Lorenco said. “It ruins sightlines.”
There is currently a sign posted across from Timberledge Lane that says “No Parking Tow Zone.”
Lorenco said “the problem” with the sign is “it doesn’t tell you really where the tow zone starts and stops.”
Select Board member Tyler Macallister said the signs were “desperately needed.”
“You can’t see the bike path probably 50% of the time that I’m driving up and down,” he said.
It may take up to a week to install the two signs, according to Lorenco.
