MATTAPOISETT — The Mattapoisett Council on Aging is holding a workshop aimed at those who have retired or plan to retire at any point in their lives.

Delia DeMello, a Social Security metropolitan public affairs specialist, will lead “Social Security 101” on Monday, Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. at the Mattapoisett Council on Aging, 17 Barstow St.

At the free workshop, attendees will learn when they are eligible to receive retirement benefits, how early retirement affects benefits and how to get the most from benefits. 

The event will also cover how to qualify for disability, survivors and spouse benefits, when one should file for Medicare, how to use a Social Security online account and more.
