Dark comedy to debut at MAC theater in October
MARION — A dark comedy is coming to the stage at Marion Art Center in the month of October.
Sarah Ruhl’s Becky Nurse of Salem will premiere on Friday, Oct. 4, directed by Brie Riccio.
Following shows will be held on Oct. 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26 and 27 at the Marion Art Center’s Anne Braitmayer Webb Theater, located at 80 Pleasant Street, Marion.
“Becky Nurse is an ordinary but strong-willed grandmother just trying to get by,” read a press release. “She’s also the great-great-great-great-granddaughter of Rebecca Nurse, who was infamously executed for witchcraft in 1692 … Desperate to raise her troubled teenage granddaughter right, Becky visits a local witch for help. But those spells and potions don’t work out exactly as planned.”
Tickets are $20 for MAC members and $23 for nonmembers, and can be purchased at marionartcenter.org/events.
