MATTAPOISETT — A widely anthologized author will be reading and speaking at the Mattapoisett Free Public Library on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 6 p.m.

Catherine Newman, author of the New York Time- bestselling novel, “Sandwich,” will read from the book, field audience questions and sign copies of the novel, as part of the “Purrington Fall Author Series.”

Newman has written several books, such as “We All Want Impossible Things,” “Waiting for Birdy and Catastrophic Happiness,” and the middle grade novel “One Mixed-Up Night.” 

For magazines and newspapers, Newman has written columns, articles and “canned-bean recipes,” in addition to many anthologized essays, a news release said.

Copies of Newman’s new novel will be available to purchase at the event.
