Marion Selectmen seek grant to repair County Road
Improvements to County Road have been a long time coming, said Marion Selectman John Henry.
On Tuesday, July 24, the Selectmen unanimously agreed to apply for a grant from the Southeastern Regional Planning and Economic Development District to be used for making such repairs.
“This has been years and years talked about but nothing has ever come of it,” Henry said.
Marion’s grant writer, Pamela Marean, will be making the grant proposal.
The Selectmen will also be seeking assistance from Rochester and Wareham officials given that the road runs through all three towns.
To date, no agreement between the three towns has been finalized.
To ensure that the road gets the repairs it needs, Selectman Jody Dickerson said it is important for the towns to come to an agreement.
“You just couldn’t pave the Marion side,” he said. “It’s something we need to work on together.”
