Marion favors Harris, Sylvia
MARION — Residents of Marion cast a total of 2,168 votes for Democrat Kamala Harris in the presidential election. Republican Donald Trump received 1,294 votes.
Marion favored Democrat Mark Sylvia over Republican Joe Pires in the race for state representative of the 10th Bristol district — a district that also includes Marion, Rochester, Fairhaven, and parts of Acushnet and New Bedford.
Sylvia received 2,002 votes and Pires received 1,403.
In the race to become the senator of the 3rd Bristol and Plymouth district, Joe Pacheco led the way with 1,881 Marion votes. Kelly Dooner received 1,318 votes and Jim Dupont received 148.
For ballot questions, 2,370 Marion voters voted yes and 987 voted no for question one, which asks if the state auditor should have the authority to audit the state legislature.
For question two, which if passed would eliminate passing MCAS exams as a high school graduation requirement, 2,050 in the town voted yes and 1,464 voted no.
For question three, which if passed would allow transportation network drivers, like Uber or Lyft drivers, to unionize, 1,687 voted yes and 1,735 voted no.
For question four, asking if certain natural psychedelics — psilocybin, psilocyn, dimethyltryptamine, mescaline and ibogaine — should be legalized, 1,392 voted yes and 2,082 voted no.
For question five, which if passed would raise the minimum wage for tipped workers to $15 and allow tips to be pooled with all employees, 902 voted yes and 2,594 voted no.
In the Senate race between incumbent Democrat Elizabeth Warren and Republican challenger John Deaton, 1,983 voted for Warren and 1,537 voted for Deaton.
In the House of Representatives race between incumbent Democrat Bill Keating and Republican challenger Dan Sullivan, 2,126 voted for Keating and 1,316 voted for Sullivan.
On election day, 1,964 voted. Marion also had 1,628 early absentee ballots submitted.
