Old Rochester basketball teams advance in state tournament
ROCHESTER — Old Rochester Regional High School’s boys and girls basketball teams are pushing forward in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association state tournament.
The girls basketball team advanced into round 8 after defeating Arlington Catholic High School and Medway High School in the first two rounds of the tournament with a 15-6 record.
They will face off against Pittsfield High School in an away game on Friday, March 7 at 6 p.m. for a place in the semi-finals.
After defeating Tantasqua Regional High School in their first round, the boys basketball team is competing against Norton High School in a home game on Wednesday, March 5 at 6 p.m. in order to qualify for round 8. The team’s record stands at 11-9.
Several Tri-Town sports teams are now finished for the season after losses in the state tournament.
The Old Rochester boys hockey team lost to Hanover High School in their first round of the tournament, finishing the season with a 10-8-0 record.
The Old Colony boys basketball team won against Notre Dame Cristo Rey High School in their first round but lost to Pioneer Valley Regional School in the next game. They ended their season with an 18-2 record.
