Buzzards Bay Area Habitat for Humanity seeks metal ramps

MATTAPPOISETT — Have an old ramp laying around? The Buzzards Bay Area Habitat for Humanity is looking for donations to help local disabled and elderly residents.

The Ramp Donation program aims to give residents the necessary equipment to stay in their homes and not have to move into assisted living facilities.

Executive Director Christine Lacourse said there’s a growing demand for people who need ramps, and cannot afford it.

“Our Ramp Donation program is making such a difference in people’s lives that need our help,” Lacourse said. “We are working with families who do not have safe access to come back to their homes or leave for doctor appointments. They appreciate having their freedom back!”

When someone no longer requires the ramp, it is picked up by the organization and then loaned to another family in need. The Ramp Donation program helps those with existing accessibility issues, temporary injuries or those who are checking out of a rehabilitation facility.

As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, the ramp donations are tax deductible per the IRS code.
