A thank you from Mattapoisett Community Sailing

Aug 20, 2012

To the Editor:

The Mattapoisett Community Sailing Association expresses heartfelt appreciation to all who made the sixth annual fundraiser a resounding success.

MattSail 2012 saluted local historian Ned Wood, and two inland boatyards - Dave Peterson’s Wooden Tangent and Buzzards Bay Yacht Restoration.  To learn more - and to see a seven minute video of the William E. Mee instructional sailing program in action- go to BoatingLocal.com, and type MattSail or Mattapoisett in the search box.

We thank BoatingLocal.com for coverage; Lighthouse Media Solutions for fabulous design work; Reynolds/Dewalt for printing sail photos on canvas for a spectacular effect. Thanks to Kenny’s Farm Stand for the flowers, and everyone who generously gifted delicious food and drink and treasures for the silent auction.

We thank our Industry Sponsors Mattapoisett Boatyard, Atlantic Boats, Brownell Systems, Burr Brothers Boats, Marine Safety Consultants, and Kavanaugh-Brownell Boats Stands. We thank Flagship Sponsors Downey and Downey, PC; Saunders-Dwyer Funeral Homes; Paul and Donna Downey; and Debross Hathaway Marvel Home Heating and Air Conditioning.

Finally, thanks to everyone who took part in this grand community effort.

Mattapoisett has been a place of excellence on the water as far back as history records. Ned Wood’s books capture a lot of that history. Boatyards like Wooden Tangent and Buzzards Bay Yacht Restoration continue that tradition of excellence.

MattSail is building skills for our future. We want to make sure every boy and girl who wants to learn to sail has that chance. Karl M. Collyer scholarships are available. We want to keep Mattapoisett special.
