Audition for the Marion Art Center Theater’s October production
MARION — Auditions will soon be open for the Marion Art Center Theater’s October Production, which will be the award-winning play “Proof” by David Auburn and directed by Richard Sherburne.
The story follows a 24-year-old woman named Catherine who has been dealing with a lot, including being the sole caretaker for her father, Robert, who was a genius mathematician dealing with mental wellness. After Robert’s death, Catherine is left wondering if her advanced penchant for math indicates an inclination toward mental illness in herself, which is a concern her sister Claire shares. Catherine will become involved with Hal, one of her father’s admirers and former student, and will also be put in the position of proving that some of her father’s mathematical genius was actually some of her own work.
The available roles are: Catherine, 24; Claire, late 20s; Hal, late 20s; and Robert, 50+. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.
Auditions will be held at the Marion Art Center Theater, located at 80 Spring Street, on Saturday, Aug. 16 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and on Sunday, Aug. 17 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
