Fight breaks out outside of Marion bar

A rowdy bar fight in Marion?

Well, it was outside the bar, but Marion Police responded to a fight scene at the Caz on Barros Drive early on Thursday morning.

Police arrived on the scene shortly after 1 a.m. and detained Wareham resident Aaron C. Strothers after an argument broke out between him and another man on the street outside of the Caz located on Barros Drive, according to Marion Sergeant Marshall Sadeck.

Sadeck said the police did not know what the two men were arguing about.

Sadeck also said that police responded to the scene after receiving an anonymous phone call. Once he arrived at the Caz, Sadeck said that there were 75 to 100 people on the street at the time of the fight.

The police arrested 23-year-old Strothers and charged him with disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace.

Strothers was arraigned in Wareham District Court on Friday.

George Ferry, owner of the Caz, said the bar was closed at the time of the fight.

“Those guys were on the street,” Ferry said.

“They were outside, things were getting loud, so someone called the cops.”

Having owned and operated the Caz since 1998, Ferry said what happened on Thanksgiving morning was certainly out of the ordinary.

“We’ve never had a problem here,” Ferry said. “It’s nice and quiet here.”
