Home and Garden Show returns to Marion
Buzzards Bay Area Habitat for Humanity returned to the Tabor Academy ice rink on Saturday for its second annual Home and Garden Show.
With more vendors and more variety than last year, the event raised over $10,000, which benefits the organization and its mission to build affordable housing for low income families.
"The first year was such a successful year that we tried to at least duplicate that and make it a little better," said Executive Director Christine Lacourse.
With plans to break ground on the first Habitat house in Marion later this spring, Lacourse said, "I think it's generating excitement for the build."
The spring show featured area businesses, from landscapers to energy efficiency experts. Each made a donation in return for booth space.
Chris Podrecca, owner of the Mattapoisett-based Chimney Sweep Professionals, was new to the show this year, and said it was an opportunity to get into the community.
"Habitat's a good cause, and I felt like this was a good way to meet local customers directly," he said.
