Talent takes the stage at Old Hammondtown

Apr 9, 2013

Regularly scheduled classes were put on hold Tuesday afternoon as the talented students of Old Hammondtown School put on a show for their peers.

The annual talent showcase featured two performances, one in the afternoon and one at night held for parents. The line-up held a variety of acts that included singing, dancing, and comedy.

Sixth grade student Alyson Stellato appeared for her third – and final – performance on the Old Hammondtown stage with a gymnastic routine.

Adele’s “Someone Like You” was a popular song choice with students as Hunter Moreau and Katherine Dwyer sang it as a duet. Later, Kate Downey played it on piano in her solo performance.

Adding color to the show were Rebecca Milde and Cami Parker who danced in neon outfits to the “Gummy Bear Song.” The sweet theme continued with Payton Lord and Mia Hurley moving in time to “I Want Candy” as it played.

After the dance numbers, student Patrick Igoe kicked off a blast of rock’n’roll with his solo guitar, playing a medley of Beatles tunes. When Igoe left the stage brothers Charlie and Sam Hartley-Matteson replaced him to play “Back In Black” by AC∼DC and “Crazy Train” by Ozzy Osbourne with electric guitar and drums.

While the majority opted for music or dance two students, David Reynolds and Zakary Sarkarati, performed the comedy classic “Who’s on First.”

The masters of ceremony for the show were students Mathew Carvalho and Julia Cabral.
