It might still be a little chilly outside, but registration for the Mattapoisett July 4 Road Race is already open. This summer marks the 43rd year of the five-mile race, which winds through Mattapoisett Village.

Race Director Bill Tilden said, “The race went very smooth last year. We’re not looking to change a thing.”

Tilden said the number of participants has been steadily near 1,000 for several years, and the Race Committee expects a good crowd this year.

Runners can register or download mail-in forms online. Online registration is $15 until June 26. Mail-in registration is $20 and must be postmarked June 24. The price will increase after these dates. For more information, visit http://www.mattapoisettroadrace.com.
