21st school covid case reported at Sippican School

MARION — Another individual at Sippican School has tested positive for coronavirus, making this is 21st case in the Old Rochester Regional School District since opening on Sept. 16.

In a press release, the district said the person has not been in school since Nov. 16 and was tested the following day. They are now quarantining at home.

The press release didn’t specify whether the person who tested positive is a student, teacher or staff member.

Contact tracing is in progress and any close contacts, or those within six feet of the individual for more than 10 minutes, will be notified and followed by the Marion Board of Health. For the most current school district covid data, visit the district’s coronavirus dashboard.

All schools will continue with their normal schedules on Nov. 20., including Sippican School at the recommendation of the Board of Health.

Schools buildings will continue to be cleaned every day after school and as needed.

Superintendent Michael Nelson and Marion officials urge all families and residents to remain vigilant about social distancing, wearing masks when in public and practicing proper hygiene.
