MATTAPOISETT — A bicycle and car accident on Sept. 27 sent a 70-year-old man to Rhode Island Hospital with what appeared to be non life-threatening injuries. 

The cyclist was wearing a helmet at the time that a 27 year-old struck him. Mattapoisett Fire and Police Departments were on scene. Massachusetts State Police were also on scene. 

The Mattapoisett Fire Facebook page posted at 3:42 p.m. asking drivers to avoid the intersection of Route 6 and Mattapoisett Neck Road, where the accident occurred. The department reported that the two lanes it closed were back open at 6:30 p.m. 

The Mattapoisett Police declined to say if there were charges involved.
