All dried up: Mattapoisett Water Tower comes down
Sep 26, 2012
After providing the town with clean water since 1913, Mattapoisett’s North Street water tower is hitting the scrap pile.
The tower was replaced by a new tank built in 2011 on Industrial Drive near the Bay Club.
Due to complications with the new tower, the North Street tank was put back in action for several months.
It was finally phased out this summer, said Water and Sewer Commissioner Nick Nicholson.
Nicholson said contractors will scrap the metal and the space, which is owned by the town, will be landscaped.
“It’s lived a good life,” said Nicholson.
