Andre P. "Andy" Gauvin, 78, truck driver, enjoyed hunting and fishing
Andre P. “Andy” Gauvin, 78, died Friday, July 22 at his home in East Wareham. He was the husband of Margaret L. (Perry) Gauvin.
Born in New Bedford the son of the late Oliver J. and Juliette (Pare) Gauvin, he moved to Wareham in 1957. Mr. Gauvin was employed by Suburban Propane, now AmeriGas, for many years as a truck driver. He retired in 1993.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Mr. Gauvin was a member of the Wankinquoah Rod and Gun Club, the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society, and the National Rifle Association. He also enjoyed cooking, yard sales, and collecting duck decoys.
Survivors include his wife; his children, Denise M. DePree and her husband Kim of Myrtle Beach, SC, Michelle R. Ruiz and her husband Steven, Paul A. Gauvin and his wife Debra and Darryl J. Gauvin and his wife Dawna all of E. Wareham, Andrea L. Buckley and her husband Matthew of Mattapoisett, and Monique L. Hodges and her husband Greg of Plymouth; two brothers, Bernard Gauvin of Mattapoisett and Ronald Gauvin of New Bedford and FL; his sister, Claire Hartigan of Canton; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. He was predeceased by his brothers, the late Jean and Norman Gauvin.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday, Jul. 31 at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham from 5 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held Monday, Aug. 1 at the Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene, 6 Rogers Ave., Wareham at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
