The Rochester Council on Aging has the following upcoming events and activities. The Senior Center is located at 67 Dexter Lane. For questions or to register for any events, contact COA Director Sharon Lally at 508-763-8723 or at slally@townofrochester.com.

Fitness Room is up and running
The Fitness Room is open and available for members to use. Become a member by paying a $20 monthly membership fee. The Fitness Room schedule is Mondays and Wednesdays, 8 to 11 a.m., and Fridays 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. As membership grows, the number of times it will be available will increase. A packet with required registration forms to participate is available for pickup at the Senior Center office at any time. Anyone is welcome to become a member. Friday, April 22: Lunch at Cape Cod Tech (The Hidden Cove Restaurant) and shopping at the Christmas Tree Shop in Sandwich

Saturday, April 30: Arts in Bloom at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston

Book club
The senior book club will meet again on Tuesday, April 19 at 10:15 a.m. to review “The Orphan Train” by Christina Kline. Anyone is welcome to this free discussion.

Old Colony students offer computer classes
The IT students will be here on Fridays, April 1, 8, and 29 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Any senior who has computer-related questions, or just wants to learn more about using a computer, is welcome to sign up in advance to participate by calling the Council on Aging.

Candidate’s Forum
The COA will host a candidate’s forum on Wednesday, April 6, at 4 p.m. at the Senior Center. Candidates running for Town of Rochester offices will be invited to speak. Anyone is welcome to attend.

Zumba Gold classes
Zumba Gold, with instructor Pati Cautillo
, begins on Monday, April 4, from 3 to 4 p.m., and continues every Monday thereafter. ZUMBA Gold is perfect for active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba class that recreates the original moves at a lower intensity. The design of the class introduces easy to follow Zumba choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion and coordination. Come ready to sweat and prepare to leave empowered and strong! This is a punch card class paid directly to the instructor. Punch cards are $20 for five classes. The first class on April 4 will be a complementary demo class of 30 minutes. No advance sign to up necessary.

Seeking board members
The Rochester Council on Aging Board is always looking for prospective board members in case of a future vacancy. If interested, send a letter of interest to the Rochester Council on Aging at the Senior Center. Advocates are always needed for the older adults of Rochester that the COA serves.

Make a wooden shelf
On Tuesday, April 5 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Joe Oliveira, plant supervisor at Alden Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, will lead the group to making their own wooden shelf, which they get to take home. The program is free. All supplies are provided. Call to sign up.

The Pampered Chef demo and luncheon: Monday, April 4, 11:30 a.m. and 12 p.m., respectively.

Soup and Sandwich Lunches: Mondays at noon.

Mike and Ann Cambra’s Special Luncheon: April 25th at noon.

Dining in
The Ye Olde Breakfast Shoppe is open for business Mondays to Fridays, 7 to 9 a.m. Anyone of any age and any town is welcome. Congregate lunches from Coastline  are available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 11:30 a.m. There is a suggested $2 donation per day. Register 24 in advance.

BINGO, Wednesdays, 12:30 to 3 p.m.

Busy Bees Craft Group, 9 to 11:30 a.m. Free

New movies: New release DVDs are shown at 1:30 p.m. Anyone is welcome to attend this free event. Call by Wednesday to find out what movie will be playing that Friday. Movies are received through Netflix.
