Area bracing for potential 20 inches of snow, strong wind gusts

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter storm watch for eastern Massachusetts for Saturday, Jan. 29 in anticipation of a storm that could see accumulations of up to 20 inches and gusts potentially approaching 65 miles per hour.

The storm is expected to impact the area beginning overnight Friday into Saturday.

Travel conditions are expected to be very difficult to impossible, and strong winds could cause tree and property damage. Power outages, coastal flooding and blizzard conditions are possible.

Residents are reminded that the forecast can change quickly and at any point, and they should closely monitor the local forecast throughout the coming days.

Monitor the Facebook pages of local police and fire departments for ongoing updates.
