MARION — The Art Center will hold auditions for playwright Ken Ludwig’s “The Fox on the Fairway,” directed by Stephanie LeBlanc. Auditions will be held Sunday, Jan. 5 from 3 to 5 p.m. and Tuesday, Jan. 7 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Marion Art Center.

Performances are scheduled on March 13 to 15 and March 19 to 22, 2020.

LeBlanc is a local actor, director, and author. She works closely with The Collective and Your Theatre. The Fox on the Fairway will be her first production with the Marion Art Center.

Ludwig, who also wrote recent Marion Art Center play “Be My Baby,” wrote this comedy in tribute to the English farces of the 1930s and 1940s, The Fox on the Fairway pulls the rug out from under the stuffy denizens of a private country club. Filled with mistaken identities, slamming doors, and over-the-top romantic shenanigans, it recalls the Marx Brothers’ classics.

LeBlanc will cast three men and three women. Auditions will consist of a cold reading from the script. The director welcomes anyone over the age of 18 to audition, as she may not adhere to the suggested ages.

Characters include: Henry Bingham, Country Club director, forties; Pamela Peabody, member at the Country Club, late thirties; Justin Hicks, Bingham’s assistant, mid-twenties; Louise Heindbedder, waitress at the Country Club, early twenties; Dickie Bell, director of the rival Country Club, mid-forties; Murial Bingham, Bingham’s wife and antique shop owner, forties.

The rehearsal schedule will be determined once the show is cast.

For character descriptions or more information, please call the Marion Art Center at 508-748- 1266 or contact LeBlanc at spaq24@gmail.com.
