Assistant superintendent to depart ORR School District

Dec 20, 2021

MATTAPOISETT — Superintendent Michael S. Nelson announced on Monday, Dec. 20 that Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning Jannell Pearson-Campbell will be departing her position at the end of the school year.

"Assistant Superintendent Pearson-Campbell has made many valuable contributions to our schools that have and will continue to enhance the education and opportunities we are able to give our students," Nelson said. "We appreciate her notifying us of her departure and allow us time to make plans for the position, and we wish her the very best in her future endeavors."

Pearson-Campbell has served as assistant superintendent for teaching and learning since August 2020. She had previously served in administrative and special education leadership roles with Waltham Public Schools and New Bedford Public Schools, and in STEM-related and special education leadership and teaching positions with the Hanover, Boston and Framingham Public Schools.

During her time as assistant superintendent for teaching and learning, Pearson-Campbell has helped to implement Aimsweb as the schools' reading and math screening tool for students at all grade levels in order to identify possible learning gaps and assess student growth.

Assistant Superintendent Pearson-Campbell has also overseen professional development for educators, and helped to establish a partnership with Teachers21, a professional development program of William James College, to further equity work in the schools. Additionally, she led the implementation of IXL, a personalized learning platform for students, in each of the six schools. She has also served as co-chair of the districts' anti-racism committee.

Pearson-Campbell is departing her position due to a change in personal circumstances. The districts will begin the process of evaluating how the position may be filled.
