Beverly Yacht Club scores big wins at the Herreshoff 12 Nationals.

MARION - Twenty seven crews signed up to compete in the Annual Herreshoff 12 Championship hosted recently by the Edgartown Yacht Club on Martha’s Vineyard. By the end of the event several Beverly 
Amid uncooperative weather, several boats had breakdowns and withdrew.  But sailors from the Beverly Yacht Club were undaunted by the driving rains and the shifty Nor’easterlies and returned home with trophies.
First place finishers were Beverly Yacht Club’s  Bill Berry and his wife, Susan Vogler, of Marion, in Nerfititi,  and in second were the brothers duo, Bill and Sam Saltonstall, of Marion, in Vireo.  Terry Cronberg of Buzzards Yacht Club placed third overall in Lorelei, having won the H 12 class in August at in the Buzzards Bay Regatta. Sixth place finishers were Paul Bolick and Paul Bradley in Shepard’s Pie, also of the Beverly Yacht Club.
Placing 6th were Paul Bolick and Paul Bradley in Shepard’s Pie, also from the Beverly Yacht Club, and 10th place finishers were Jonathan Pope and John Waterman in H-12 Waterlady, which had to withdraw early due to a breakdown. The regatta officials had to cancel the second day of racing due to hazardous weather conditions.
