Boy Scout plans dog walk-a-thon
Mattapoisett Boy Scout Freemin Bauer got approval from Selectmen Tuesday night to hold a dog walk-a-thon in the Village come August.
The dog walk will be part of Bauer’s Eagle Scout project with the goal to raise $1,000 to help improve a local dog shelter.
Bauer said those without dogs are also welcome to participate, and that there will be two routes, one a little more than a mile long, the other about half a mile. The event will start and end at the Center School tennis courts.
Boy Scouts will staff the event, which will have water and dog poo bags at stations along the walks.
Afterwards, Bauer said, “We will take laps to see if there’s any poop left.”
The cost will be $20 for those with dogs and $15 without, and T-shirts will be included. The date is set for August 27, rain or shine.
