Bulletin boards revamped in Marion

MARION — Two of three new bulletin boards constructed by Marion Boy Scout Lee Grondin have been placed in their final locations along the Marion waterfront.

According to Marion Town Administrator Geoff Gorman, the boards have been installed at Island Wharf and Old Landing. The final board, which will be installed at Wings Cove, has not yet been placed.

“I saw some pictures today and they look exceptional,” said Gorman. “They look really good and they will be a nice place for people to get town information.”

Grondin, a member of Marion Boy Scout Troop 32, constructed the three bulletin boards to complete his Eagle Scout project

“The new bulletin boards show some amazing craftsmanship and came out awesome,” wrote the Marion Harbormaster Department in a Facebook post.

The Harbormaster Department helped Grondin by purchasing building materials for Lee to use for the project.

According to the post, the previous bulletin boards at these locations were “old and weathered.”

Now, said Gorman, the town will “get a process in place” to figure out how to remove old material from the bulletin boards, and keep the boards stocked with current flyers and information.
