Deepen connections with nature

Aug 21, 2020

MARION — Inspired by the Japanese practice of “forest bathing,” a small group of hikers will join the Marion Natural History Museum for a walk in the woods to learn about connecting with nature.

Forest bathing has been scientifically proven to boost immune strength, reduce stress, and improve cognitive functioning, and allows participants to deepen relationships with the natural world.

A certified guide will offer a series of guided invitations to assist walk participants in finding your own authentic way of interacting with the land. The walk will still be on if it is raining unless, it is a heavy storm or very windy, as rain often the enhances sensory experience and makes for a memorable walk. Participants should dress appropriately.

Space is limited to ten adults, and pre-registration is required.  The group will be observing all social distancing regulations.

The expert guide, Nadine Mazzola, is an award-winning author and Certified Forest Therapy Guide. Nadine’s training includes special knowledge in guiding people of all ages in Shinrin-Yoku, (or forest bathing) walks and demonstrating the benefits of spending time in the nature to manage stress.

To register for this program contact the museum director at director@marionmuseum.org. Partial funding for this program was provided by the Marion Cultural Council.  The program is Saturday Sept. 26th from 9 a.m. to noon, and the cost is $30/participant.
