MARION — The Friends of the Marion Council on Aging will Sponsor the “Festival of Trees,” allowing businesses, community groups, and interested individuals to sponsor and decorate Christmas trees to raise money for programing at the Benjamin D. Cushing Community Center at 465 Mill Street in Marion.
The Festival will be from Nov. 30 to Dec. 12. Five-foot pre-lit trees will be made available for sponsors to design in any style or theme that they choose. Their creations will then be added to a raffle, and delivered to the winners.
The festival will kick off with an opening reception on Saturday, Nov. 30. The reception will feature an artisan sale, music, refreshments, and a basket raffle.
The Community Center will be open for tree decorating on Tuesday, Nov. 26 from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 29 from 9 a.m. to noon, and Saturday, Nov. 30 from 9 a.m. to noon.
The deadline to donate a basket is 11 a.m. on Nov. 30.
Tree designers are responsible for bringing their own decorating materials. They will also be included in the event program, and be eligible for a variety of awards.
