"Difference-makers" needed in Marion

Mar 19, 2018

To the Editor:

No question, we live in an extraordinary town. How did it get that way, and how is it staying that way? We can thank many caring, dedicated residents before us who stepped up to serve on our boards, committees, and commissions.

Our elections are coming up on Friday, May 18,  and there are several positions that need to be filled. It’s not too late to run for one of them! There are two seats open on the Selectboard for either one or three years, two three-year seats on the Planning Board, a one-year position as Moderator, and three-year terms on the Board of Assessors, Board of Health, Marion School Committee, and the Marion Open Space and Acquisitions Committee. Election papers are now available at the Town Clerk’s office, and they must be returned by March 26.

Candidates’ Night will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, in the Music Hall.

Many non-elected volunteer groups and committees also exist, so please ask about the possibilities. Be a Marion “difference-maker”—our town won’t stay great without you.

For more information, please contact the Assistant Town Clerk, Lissa Maguaran (508) 748-3502 or a member of the group you are interested in at MarionMa.gov.
