Dog-eared: New program has kids reading to canine

Oct 18, 2012

Sadie the Goldendoodle is coming to Mattapoisett Library to help reluctant third grade readers get into books.

The two-year-old dog, owned by Jenna Gifford, will sit and listen to kids read as part of the Reading PAWS program, which allows children to read aloud to a dog in order to improve reading and communication skills.

Sadie, who is well-trained and loves children, will be at the library on four Tuesday evenings, October 23 through November 13 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.

The program is limited to five children per session.

Please register your third grader by October 20 in order to attend.

For details and registration, please contact Children's Librarian Linda Burke at 508-758-4171.
