Driver critical, medflighted after Rochester crash

ROCHESTER _ A patient was transported to Rhode Island Hospital Trauma Center via medical helicopter in critical condition following an accident in the area of Braley Hill Road Sunday night Oct. 31, Rochester Fire Department reported.

The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle. No other vehicles were involved in the accident, Rochester Fire reported.

Responders used the Jaws of Life and other tools to extricate the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, Rochester Fire reported. Extrication efforts took 15 minutes, officials reported. The driver was in critical condition when removed from the vehicle.

A medical helicopter was dispatched to the end of the cul-de-sac at the end of Ashley Brook, which is an open location close to the scene of the crash, fire officials reported.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. 

The name of the driver or any other identifying information was not released.
